According to early police information, the incident took place around 8:30 pm at Krishi Thapanda’s residence in Rajarajeshwari Nagar (RR Nagar). Reports say Krishi was not at home at the time; she was in Yelahanka when the death occurred.

Vaishak had reportedly been staying at her house for about a week. Preliminary findings suggest that he died by suicide, allegedly by hanging himself from a ceiling fan while alone in the flat. His body was later shifted to Victoria Hospital for post-mortem examination. Police have said that no suicide note has been recovered so far, and the exact cause of death will be confirmed only after the autopsy report is received.

What was the personal and mental health problems was Vaishak dealing with?

Investigators have learned that Vaishak had been undergoing treatment for depression and was reportedly dealing with personal and family problems. He had been living separately from his wife for nearly a month following frequent disputes. Initial reports also indicate that he may have called Krishi Thapanda on the night of the incident and told her he intended to end his life, after which she reportedly informed her family.

What was the previous extortion case link?

This is not the first time Vaishak’s name has appeared in police records. Earlier, he came under scrutiny in a threat-letter and extortion case involving businessman and advocate Aravind Reddy. In February, a letter allegedly demanding Rs 6-7 crore and an apology was sent to Reddy, and HAL Police arrested Vaishak on suspicion of having sent it in connection with a dispute involving a woman. He was questioned for five days and later released, after the Karnataka High Court stayed further investigation against him on February 6.

What is the current investigation and next steps?

Rajarajeshwari Nagar Police have visited the apartment, conducted an initial inspection, and sent the body for post-mortem. His family members are expected to file a formal complaint regarding the death, after which police will register a case under the relevant sections for an unnatural death.
