Meta gets three more days to respond over WhatsApp username feature in India
The government has given Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, an additional three days to respond to concerns regarding the messaging platform’s proposed username feature.
Meta has also assured authorities that the feature will not be introduced in India until discussions with the government are concluded.
According to PTI, the extension was granted after the company sought extra time to submit its response to the government’s notice over the proposed update.
The username feature is designed to let WhatsApp users communicate with others without having to share their mobile phone numbers.
